Can I transcribe MKV to text for free?

Can I upload MKV without converting it to MP4?
Yes. Upload your MKV directly. It needs a readable audio track containing speech; there is no need to convert it first.
Why is my MKV file not transcribing?
The audio inside an MKV can use different codecs. Check that the original plays with audible speech. If processing still fails, export it as MP4 or an audio file and try again.
How long can an MKV video be?
The maximum supported MKV duration is 60 minutes per file. Trim longer videos to the sections you need before uploading.
Can I transcribe separate audio tracks?
The page does not offer separate selection and transcription of multiple tracks. To transcribe a specific language or track, export that audio track first and upload it separately.
Does this extract embedded MKV subtitles?
No. This tool transcribes speech from the audio. It does not extract existing subtitle tracks or read text on screen. A file without speech cannot produce a spoken transcript.
Can I convert MKV to TXT or SRT?
You can download the transcript as a TXT file or copy the full text. Timestamps are available in the editor. SRT subtitle export is not currently supported.
Can I edit the MKV transcript?
Yes. Click a sentence to replay the audio, then correct the text. Noise, unclear speech, and overlapping voices can affect the result.
