Transcription tips

Get better WAV transcription results

WAV files can be large and use various encodings. Checking these points before uploading helps avoid issues.

  • Large files upload slowly

WAV is uncompressed, so files are much larger than MP3. Be patient while uploading.

  • Rare encodings may fail

If processing fails, re-export as standard WAV or MP3 from your audio software.

  • Trim long recordings

Cut out the sections you need and transcribe them separately for faster processing.

  • Verify important details

Double-check names, numbers, and technical terms by replaying the relevant timestamps.

FAQs

WAV to text FAQs

Is WAV to text conversion free?

Yes. You can upload WAV files and transcribe them without signing up.

Can I only upload WAV files?

No. This page uses WAV as an example, but you can also upload MP3, FLAC, OGG, and other common audio formats without converting them first.

What is the maximum WAV file duration?

The maximum supported WAV duration is 60 minutes per file. For longer audio, trim the sections you need or split it into shorter files before uploading.

Will all WAV files transcribe correctly?

Most will. WAV supports different internal encodings, and rare encodings may fail. Re-export as standard WAV or MP3 if needed.

Are WAV files more accurate than MP3?

Not necessarily. Transcription accuracy depends on clear speech and low background noise, not the file format.

Can I download the transcript as an SRT subtitle file?

Not yet. You can view the transcript with timestamps and copy the full text. SRT export is not currently supported.

What if the transcription is inaccurate?

Click on the text to replay the audio and edit the result directly. Background noise, unclear speech, or multiple overlapping speakers may reduce accuracy.
